Halley's Comet Mead recipe

Brewed 1/26/1985, Bottled 3/5/1985, Size 7 Gallons
Ingredients:
- 9 lbs Honey
- 2 lbs corn sugar
- 2 tbsp gypsum
- 1 tsp citric acid
- 1 oz cascade leaf hops
- 1/2 gal Apple-Raspberry Juice
- 1/3 tsp Irish moss
- 1 cup corn sugar (bottling)
- 2 tsp lemon grass tea added at bottling time
Specific Gravity Reading, 1 carboy:
- OG 1.075 @ 80 deg F
- FG 0.996 @ 70 deg F
Comments: This was our very first mead (melomel variety), brewed around the
time that Halley's Comet was visible in the sky.
It turned out well and inspired us to brew many more meads.
